Vanessa Cruz, age 45 of East Chicago, IN passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family.

With deep sorrow but steadfast faith in God’s promise of eternal life, we celebrate the beautiful life of Vanessa Cruz, a devoted mother, cherished daughter, beloved sister, proud grandmother, and faithful woman of God

Vanessa was known for her unforgettable laughter - warm, radiant, and contagious. Her joy filled rooms and lifted hearts. She had a gift for making people feel loved, welcomed, and understood. She formed deep friendships throughout her life and was blessed with many dear friends who became like family.

Her greatest love was her children, Arielle Imaris Cruz and Isaac Angel Hernandez, who were her pride and purpose. Her most treasured title was “Gigi.” Her precious granddaughters, Mia and Meilani, were the light of her life, and she adored them beyond measure.

She is lovingly survived by her amazing parents, Alicia Cruz and Angel Manuel Sr. Cruz; her brothers, Gilberto Cruz and Angel Cruz; her four beloved nieces; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends. Among her many cousins, Joana and Mimi held a special place in her heart -more like adopted sisters than cousins, sharing a bond of deep love and loyalty.

Rooted in Christian faith, Vanessa trusted the Lord through every season of life. While we grieve her absence, we find comfort knowing she now rests in the arms of Jesus, whole and at peace.

Her legacy lives on in the laughter she shared, the love she gave so freely, and the family she cherished above all else. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

Visitation at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 on Thursday, February 26, 2026; and on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass at 10:00 am at Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev.
